Experts gather at UM to discuss development of future cities

A seminar on future electricity supply for smart cities was recently held at the University of Macau’s (UM) Institute of Collaborative Innovation. The event was organized by UM’s State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City and Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM). During the event, experts and scholars discussed about technologies for the future development of smart energy supply system to be used in a smart city.

In his speech, UM’s Rector Yonghua Song said that UM established China’s first State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for smart cities. He said that the laboratory will further enhance the quality of research studies in this field and will develop basic theories, algorithms, and systems, in order to provide technical support in the development of future smart cities for Macau, the Greater Bay Area, and other parts of China.

During the seminar, Professor Wang Xiuli from Xi’an Jiaotong University, Professor Wang Furong from the University of Bath, and Lee Chi Chio from CEM each gave a presentation. They shared their latest research results in the fields of power system reliability evaluation, future 3D transformation of distribution power networks and smart grid platforms for Macau with participating experts, scholars, engineers, and students.
