Healthcare workforce growing but slowly

The number of healthcare professionals has grown over the past five years, according to Health Bureau statistics. More doctors, nurses and dieticians were registered, while the number of occupational therapists and pharmacists fell. Demand for medical services also increased, with a 24.7% year-over-year rise in emergency department patients. By the end of last year, Macau had over 11,416 professionals, 99 more than the prior year. Growth came in dentistry, radiology and physiotherapy. The number of psychologists remained at 86.
