Ho Chio Meng coordinates legal studies committee

The deputy-Prosecutor General Ho Chio Meng has been appointed as coordinator of the recently established Committee on Criminal and Legal Studies, the government revealed through its Official Gazette (BO). He will lead the new body for two years. The Committee, which runs under a project team basis, is supervised by the Prosecutor General of the Public Prosecutions Office. The Committee’s major roles include monitoring the development of legal and judicial reforms on criminal matters; proposing related suggestions and revisions; conducting research projects on social and legal aspects and to continuously improve the criminal law system. In addition, it will also be conducting research projects on criminal procedural policies. The Committee is also responsible for submitting an annual report to the Prosecutor General concerning work implementation. The Public Prosecutions Office will be bearing the costs of establishing and maintaining the body, the Government Information Bureau said in a statement.
