The hotel occupancy rate in Macau experienced a significant boost compared to the previous year, rising by 12.0 percentage points to reach 89.7% in February.
The average price of hotel rooms increased by 28.4%, reaching MOP1,544.90.
According to the latest data published on the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) website, the Macau Hotel Association reported that the hotel occupancy rates for five-star, four-star, and three-star hotels in February were 90.9%, 82.4%, and 92.0% respectively.
The overall average room rate surged by 28.4% compared to the previous year, reaching MOP1,544.90, as opposed to the reported figure of MOP1,203.50 in February 2023.
Among the different hotel categories, five-star hotels had an average room rate of MOP1,732.30, while four-star and three-star hotels had rates of MOP1,082.70 and MOP1,052.70 respectively.
From January to February 2024, the average hotel occupancy rate for the period stood at 90.6%, with an average room rate of MOP1,470.70.
In February, Macau welcomed a total of 3.29 million visitors, indicating a recovery to 92.9% of the 2019 level, as reported by the latest data from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
Additionally, the eight-
day Spring Festival Golden Week in mainland China concluded with better-than-expected visitor figures. Macau registered nearly 1.36 million visitor arrivals during this period, with the number of visitors on the third day of Chinese New Year reaching the second-highest single-day record.
The average daily visitor arrivals during that period approximated 170,000, a significant increase compared to the previous year, almost reaching the level in 2019. The average hotel occupancy rate was above 95%, reflecting a positive trend in tourism recovery. Staff Reporter
