IPM art student wins British prize

coluna-_3Filipe5-bFilipe Miguel das Dores from the Macau Polytechnic Institute (IPM) has won the John Purcell Paper Prize for the second time. Two art works by the Macanese artist, titled “Working Alone” and “The September after 18 years,” were both selected to appear at the 204th Exhibition of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour. “Working Alone” was also awarded the Leathersellers’ Award. The student reportedly spent 300 hours working on his creations, where he depicts in extreme detail, the Livraria Portuguesa building as seen at night. Last year, for his work titled “Mario Night,” the artist won the John Purcell Paper Prize for the first time.

Health condition survey

A survey aiming to assess the local population’s health status will take place between April and June. The evaluation will include two parts, namely a household survey and, in some cases, physical examinations. The Health Bureau issued a statement yesterday informing residents that the survey would be conducted by uniformed personnel and that all information gathered would remain confidential.

Zhuhai-Macau entrepreneurship festival opening soon

The second edition of the Zhuhai-Macau International Entrepreneurs Festival & China’s Entrepreneurial Grand Ceremony will open on April 23, Macao Daily News reported. Organized by the Zhuhai Entrepreneurship Fraternity, the festival will take place over two days at Inno Valley HQ. On the first day, forums and exhibitions will occur. During the second and final day, invited guests will share their personal experiences regarding entrepreneurship, while the organizers will announce a selection of role models, including both people and companies, from Zhuhai and Macau who have achieved success through entrepreneurship. Over 200 organizations and companies participated in last year’s event, which saw close to 1,000 participants.
