Living dinos at the Science Center

2-2016-03-20-15.39.35The “Living Dinosaurs” exhibition opens today at the Macao Science Center (MSC). This is the first special exhibition themed around dinosaurs presented by the center.
The exhibit’s science advisors include American paleontologist Dr Gregory M. Erickson, Argentinian paleontologists Dr Sebastian Apesteguia, and Dr Adrian Giacchino, chairman of the non-
profit organization the Azara Foundation, that strives to promote research into Argentinian natural and cultural heritage.
Meanwhile, the Science Center Dino Coloring Contest and the Multimedia Design Contest Award Presentation Ceremony took place this weekend at MSC.
Awards for the Dino Coloring Contest were presented to 13 junior primary school students and 13 senior primary school students. Aiming to encourage imagination and creativity among local children, a further prizes twenty prizes were awarded.
The top prize of the Multimedia Design Contest went to the Colégio Diocesano de São José, while Escola Luso-Chinesa Technico-Profissional took home the consolation prize. Six teams from the Workers’ Children Secondary School took the remaining prizes, including the second and third prizes in addition to four consolation prizes.
Some of the short videos were found to be probable copyright violations of by the judges, although the students been properly warned and informed of acceptable practices.
According to the organizers, the committee had suggested that if students were not sure whether they had the right to use online resources, to email the provider of such resources seeking permission, thus avoiding any kind of copyright infringement.
The Dino Coloring Contest offered the participants between MOP100 and MOP1,000 in prizes. The Multimedia Design Contest granted MOP7,000, MOP4,000 and MOP2,000 for the first, second, and third prizes, respectively.  Staff reporter
