ExCo completes discussion on security force salary bill

The Executive Council (ExCo) has completed its discussion on the draft of law No. 8/2012, which concerns salary compensation for security force workers, according to a statement released by the council on Friday. The bill has taken into consideration the fact that security force personnel work on a different schedule compared to other civil servants. Security forces operate permanently unlike other public services. According to Macau’s Civil Servant protocol, if a civil servant works over 44 hours per week, the worker is entitled to a salary compensation. As the current method of calculating working hours does not reflect the uniqueness and uncertainty of the security force and to ensure that security force’s civil servants are compensated fairly, the security authority has amended the bill. The amendment proposes to calculate security force personnel’s weekly average working hours by averaging the total working hours for each month.
