Macau may receive emergency coronavirus vaccines this month: Secretary Ao Ieong

Emergency Covid-19 vaccines for the more vulnerable groups – children, seniors and frontline health workers – could arrive in the MSAR by the end of December, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Elsie Ao Ieong announced today (Wednesday) at the Legislative Assembly (AL).

She added that the government is acquiring Covid-19 vaccines worldwide and negotiated with some of the pharmaceutical companies and labs manufacturing vaccines.

Secretary Ao Ieong said that the vaccines will be gradually provided to the general population, but since the current pandemic situation in the city is not as serious as abroad, the distribution will focus initially on “people who need to travel out of Macau” either for work or study.

The UK has become the first western country to license a vaccine against Covid Wednesday for emergency use, as reported earlier by MDT.
