A 48-year-old unemployed mainland man, already prohibited from leaving Macau due to a prior fraud conviction, was arrested Monday night on suspicion of drug trafficking.
The Judiciary Police (PJ) acted on intelligence that identified the suspect allegedly selling drugs in the Central District, authorities said yesterday.
During the operation, officers intercepted the man near a hotel and discovered 16 small packages of methamphetamine weighing a total of 18.21 grams in his hotel room.
The drugs have an estimated black-market value of MOP60,000.
Authorities also found electronic scales and drug paraphernalia at the scene. In a subsequent urine test, it is alleged the suspect tested positive for drugs.
According to a PJ spokesperson, the man had been living in Macau for two months after his fraud conviction in June 2023, which included compulsory reporting measures and restrictions on leaving the region. NS
