Man embezzles HKD350,000, claims cash was lost

A mainland man involved in currency exchange has been accused of embezzling HKD350,000 from an accomplice and confessed the money was lost, police said. Authorities revealed that in March, the victim collaborated with the suspect in an illegal foreign exchange, contributing HKD810,000 while the suspect found customers. Although the victim received some exchange money, the suspect later took HKD350,000 and became uncontactable. In April, the victim’s friends found the suspect in a Cotai hotel. During a conversation outside, the suspect claimed he was threatened and asked an officer for help. He was subsequently exposed by police and transferred to the procuratorate on suspicion of credit abuse.
