Melco Resorts and Entertainment will be the sponsor for the 2024 World School Basketball Championships that will be held in Macau from June 23 to July 3.
The championship is designed to promote exchange between young people from all over the world and enhance their physical fitness and sense of competition. It has, over the years, become one of the most important sporting events for junior high school students in the world.
“Young people are the future of society. This event will allow local elite teams to communicate and learn during the competition. At the same time, it will help improve our local economy and students understand the culture of different countries and regions, which can help to promote the international vision of young people in Macau,” said Kong Chi Meng, director of the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ), yesterday on the sidelines of a sponsorship signing ceremony.
“Additionally, as part of the government’s plan for economic and cultural diversity development, we want to strengthen cooperation with the resorts in Macau to promote the co-development of both the comprehensive tourism leisure industry and the sports industry,”the official added. Staff Reporter
