MGM organized the “Lingnan Lion Dance Exchange Tour” in Foshan, attracting 120 young lion dance masters and their parents from Macau. This initiative aimed to deepen appreciation for lion dance and traditional Chinese culture. Over two days, participants engaged with local lion dance teams, learning about the intricate craftsmanship of lion heads and drums.
The tour included visits to historical sites like Liang’s Garden and the Ancestral Temple, enhancing understanding of lion dance origins.
Deng Weijie, president of the Foshan Lion and Dragon Sports Association, said: “As the younger generation will be responsible for cultural inheritance in the future, early promotion in schools will surely help in the popularity of lion dance as well as the passing on from generation to generation.”
