Morpheus, located at City of Dreams in Cotai, has been recognized as one of the world’s most beautiful hotels by Prix Versailles, the world architecture and design award at UNESCO.
This makes it the only hotel in Macau to “receive this esteemed recognition,” the company said yesterday in a press release.
Morpheus stands as “a unique architectural marvel,” being the world’s first free-form exoskeleton high-rise, a creation of the late Dame Zaha Hadid.
The Prix Versailles, held annually at UNESCO since 2015, honors exemplary projects globally that embody innovation, local heritage reflection and intelligent sustainability, considering their ecological, social and cultural impacts.
Lawrence Ho, Chairman and CEO of Melco Resorts & Entertainment, expressed his gratitude stating, “we are humbled and honored by Morpheus being listed among the world’s most beautiful hotels by the esteemed Prix Versailles at UNESCO. The accolade enhances Melco’s positioning as a global premium brand that extends beyond gaming to elevate luxury hospitality standards.”
This isn’t the first honor for Morpheus. After its 2018 opening, TIME Magazine named it one of the world’s greatest places, and in 2019, it clinched a Prix Versailles regional award for hotels, Central and Northeast Asia.
