The government of Mozambique expects the country’s economy will to grow 7.5 percent this year, down 20 basis points on the forecast for 2014, according to the proposed Economic and Social Plan (PES).
The PES proposal for 2015, to be submitted to Parliament indicates that the inflation rate is projected at 5.1 percent, according to Mozambican news agency AIM.
The spokesman for the Council of Ministers, Mouzinho Saide, said the PES proposal defines the main objectives for 2015, the first year of implementation of the current government’s Five Year Plan established following the last general election.
The proposal provides that exports of goods will reach US$5.987 billion and the country will have foreign reserves of US$3.623 billion, equivalent to 4.2 months of imports of goods and services.
Other PES 2015 objectives focus on creating employment opportunities, and improving environmental management and increased transparency in the use of natural resources. MDT/Macauhub
