The Macau Orchestra presented two performances of the comedy concert, “Journey into the World of Music – The Lost Elephant,” at the Macau Tower Auditorium on December 6.
More than 100 sudents from Escola Caritas de Macau and the Concordia School of Special Education, along with their parents, were invited to watch the concerts. Children received animal masks as part of the experience.
“Journey into the World of Music” combines diverse elements such as mime and magic tricks to create an appealing show for children. This year, the bilingual interpretation – in Chinese and English – added an element of linguistic education to the performance.
According to a statement from the Cultural Affairs Bureau, which oversees the orchestra, the children’s parents commended the new educational approach and felt that the activities could potentially broaden children’s artistic perspectives.
The Macau Orchestra will visit a number of charitable organizations and aged care centres in January 2016, and will host a New Year Concert for seniors and minority groups.
