Four academics from the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) have recently been listed as highly cited global researchers by a data science company, the university has announced.
Clarivate is the company that creates the list.
The MUST has said this is the first year it has had a doctoral graduate make the list. The academic is Dr. Li Zhongjun, a 2019 graduate of the Faculty of Innovative Engineering, School of Computer Science and Engineering. Li was included on the list of cross-disciplinary academics.
The other three academics are distinguished Professor Wang Jun of the Macau Institute for the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, selected for biology and biochemistry; Chair Professor Zhang Kang, vice dean of the School of Medicine; and Professor Wang Jianzhou of the Faculty of Innovative Engineering, who were both on the list of cross-disciplinary academics.
The MUST noted Li’s inclusion is “particularly impressive,” as the list mainly comprises veteran or distinguished professors or scholars with established reputations.
The university also noted Wang had been included on the list for five consecutive years, with Zhang for four and Wang for three.
In a statement discussing the results, the MUST said, “MUST has always been committed to the development of high-quality education and excellent research, adhering to the policy of giving equal importance to teaching and research, and has been encouraging [academics] to contribute to global scientific research.”
This year, the list covered 22 disciplines in the natural and social sciences, and was generated by analyzing all the papers included in the Science Citation Index (SCI) and Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) over the past ten years.
