NPC | Ho believes in leadership stability, does not shut door to CE run

The president of the Macau Legislative Assembly (AL), Ho Iat Seng, believes that Macau’s stability will be assured in the coming five years in relation to the positions and placements of mainland China’s principal officials at provincial levels, according to a report by Macao Daily News.

Chen Sixi, vice-director of the Liaison Office in Macau, has been elected as a standing committee member of the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC).

Before coming to Macau, Chen served as the deputy director of the Liaison Office, and was already a member of the standing committee of the 12th NPC. However, Chen had to resign from the 12th NPC in order to come to Macau.

Since Chen’s reelection, he is believed to be reconsidering his job, which implies that there might be a change in the leadership of the Liaison Office.

While in Beijing, Ho was asked about his opinion about this possible change as well as other previous changes in the leadership of the Liaison Office in Macau.

Ho agreed that the changes in the leadership in the Liaison Office in Macau are indeed frequent. However, the AL president claimed that, currently all the principal officials at the provincial level in China are going through a period of change.

Ho noted that China is journeying through a period of change in regard to its leaders, and that there must be positions filled by a certain kind of person.

In addition, Ho once again was questioned as to whether he would run for the Chief Executive spot. This time, as opposed to previous occasions, he did not deny the possibility. JZ
