SSM plans to restrict flavored tobacco

The Health Bureau announced plans to revise smoking regulations based on the 2021–2023 Tobacco Control Assessment, aiming to ban new tobacco products, imitation tobacco, and re-emerging tobacco items. Authorities will also monitor flavored additives like mint, fruit, and candy in traditional tobacco products and may consider regulating “flavored cigarettes” in line with regional experiences. Currently, 10 health centers and stations offer cessation consultations, with 3,240 people receiving assessments from January to August.
