Number of registered companies increases

The total value of registered capital of incorporated companies went down by 6.4 percent year- on-year to MOP116 million, with that of business services decreasing by 5.3 percent to MOP17 million, according to data released by the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC). Companies in dissolution totaled 160 in the third quarter, and the value of registered capital of companies in dissolution amounted to MOP33 million. Analyzed by size of registered capital, there were 899 new companies with capital under MOP50,000, and the total value of capital was MOP23 million. On the other hand, there were 26 new companies registered with capital of MOP1 million or over, with their total value of capital amounting to MOP48 million.

Meanwhile, the total number of newly incorporated companies in the third quarter of 2017 increased by 163 year-on-year to 1,250, and the number of companies operating in Wholesale & Retail went up by 122.

Analyzed by industry, there were 486 newly incorporated companies operating in Wholesale & Retail, 257 in Business Services and 179 in Construction.

Regarding the origin of capital, capital mainly came from the Macau region (MOP68 million) and mainland China (MOP22 million); capital from the nine provinces of the Pan-Pearl River Delta Region totaled MOP16 million, with 91.4 percent from Guangdong province.

Analyzed by combination of shareholders, there were 845 new companies established solely by local shareholders, and 136 joint ventures between shareholders from Macau and other countries or regions.

In the first three quarters of 2017, a total of 3,951 new companies were incorporated, up by 606 year-on-year; the total value of registered capital increased to MOP7.6 billion.

The number of companies in dissolution totaled 578, and the value of registered capital of companies in dissolution amounted to MOP119 million.

At the end of the third quarter of 2017, the number of registered companies totaled 60,045, an increase of 4,229 from a year earlier.
