Macao One Account

Online platform adds new cards for industry professionals

To improve the service of digital cards, the Macao One Account launched a new function that adds 24 types of professions such as pharmacists, teachers, lawyers, and architects to the online platform.

In a press conference, authorities announced the cards will be divided into two categories: generic and professional.

The inclusion of professional cards and licenses issued by government departments into the digital card service is designed to make the service more convenient for people to use in their daily lives.

At present, there are 28 generic cards and 12 professional cards that the public can use.

The authorities added several generic cards and licenses for government departments such as a card to register for disability evaluation by the Social Welfare Bureau and a membership card “Friends of IAM.”

The 28 generic cards and licenses for the public cover areas such as medical, education, culture and health and environmental protection, among others.

12 professional cards provide around 24 types of professional skilled workers to the public covering government departments such as the Pharmaceutical Administration Bureau, the Land and Urban Construction Bureau, the Labour Affairs Bureau, the Education and Youth Development Bureau and the Macau Lawyers Association.

Furthermore, courts have also allowed the legal profession to submit litigation documents via the service.

“This is convenient for us (lawyer and people who engage in legal profession) in doing anything,” said Jorge Neto Valente, president of Macau Lawyers Association, as cited in a TDM report.

“The purpose of adding a professional card service is to facilitate those workers who have professional skills to use the related service when they show their card from the account,” said Ng Wai Han, subdirector of the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau.

At present, the number of registered accounts in Macao One Account rose from 67,000 two years ago to over 400,000 now, with over 125,000 users having combined their cards and licenses.

“In mid-October, the authorities will launch a related service with driving licenses. In the future, other types of cards or licenses will be added such as real estate,” said Ng. Staff Reporter
