Opening today: Macau takes central role in Now You See Me 2

Macau features for a good 45 minutes in the blockbuster Hollywood film “Now You See Me 2” the sequel, and it takes a central role in the action. As in any magical gig, some scenes, supposedly happening in the “Vegas of the East,” were actually shot in an East London studio, as were scenes depicting New York City.

The movie picks up a year after the end of the first movie. The Four Horsemen are still fugitives. No one’s seen them, they’ve gone underground…

This reporter, who has already seen the movie in a preview at the Venetian Theatre last week, aims to tell the story behind the scenes and to account for Macau’s performance in this major Hollywood production that has racked AUD2.8 million “across 250 screens in its opening weekend to claim the top spot at the weekend box office.” The movie, produced with the support of Sands China, opens today in Macau, tomorrow in the USA, but tested brilliantly Down Under.

The full review, with exclusive interviews with actors Lizzy Caplan and Jesse Eisenberg, director Jon M. Chu and producer Bobby Cohen, conducted last year during the shooting of the movie on location, will be published tomorrow (Thursday) in Macau Daily Times.
