The Associação Internacional de Filantropia (Macau) has raised a total of USD9,907.81 for its solidarity campaign titled “#helplebanon2020,” which aims to support local NGO Achrafieh2020 following the explosion in the port of Beirut on August 4, which left 300,000 people homeless in the Lebanese capital city.
The donations were collected and sent to Lebanon from September to December 2020.
The contributions supported 400 families across three months with food, medical and social care provided by Achrafiel2020 and helped displaced families return to their homes, which had been damaged by the blast.
In a thank you note, Achrafieh2020 expressed its gratitude towards Macau by stating, “The initiative and the effort put to raise this fund is not to be underestimated given the current circumstances where people across the world are facing other challenges,” as cited in a statement issued by the philanthropic association.
