Police force protestors out of DSSOPT

Scores of Pearl Horizon protesters were forcibly removed by police on Tuesday night after they staged a sit-in inside the headquarters of the Land, Public Works and Transport Bureau (DSSOPT). Around 70 police officers armored with shields were deployed to the area on early Tuesday evening, and waited outside of the headquarters for the building to close. After bureau staff informed the protestors that the building would be shut, armored officers stormed the structure and forced the demonstrators out. Protesters have increased the frequency of their demonstrations and sit-ins recently in response to what they view as an inadequate government response.  Earlier this week an Administrative Court in Macau rejected an appeal by Pearl Horizon plot developer, Polytec, against the government’s decision not to renew the land concession.
