Premier visits Rua do Cunha and a local family

China’s Premier Li Keqiang visited more tourist spots yesterday, including Rua do Cunha, where he arrived at around 5 p.m. Li visited a bakery located on the street and listened to the owners introducing him to the way of making Macau’s famous delicacy: Portuguese egg tarts.
Before leaving, the Premier bought one box of egg tarts from the bakery. Li revealed that Portuguese egg tarts are very popular and very successful in mainland China. He encouraged them to keep up the hard work they put into their craft. Li   then visited another bakery, where he purchased one box of wife cakes.
In the afternoon, the Premier visited a local family, accompanied by the Chief Executive Chui Sai On. The family, surnamed Mak, has two children. The four grandparents also showed up at their childrens’ family in order to meet the second-head of China.
The father, Mr Mak, is a manager at a local software company, and has properties in both Macau and Zhuhai. His wife, Mrs Mak, is a computer teacher. The couple’s two sons are aged seven and four years old. The whole family welcomed Li with passion, and appeared to be relaxed during the conversation with him.
The Premier asked about the family’s situation, including living environment and working conditions, as well as about the retirement life of the four older residents. Li suggested to the Maks  that they teach their children how to combine their interests with their dreams in order to make them the hope of the family and of Macau. Finally, Li presented his wishes to the family. Before leaving, he gave the family two laptops as gifts.
The Premier also visited the Macau Grand Prix controlling center yesterday, where he listened to a presentation on the topic of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, given by Chau Vai Man, coordinator of the Infrastructure Development Office (GDI). The bridge is the first cross-sea transportation project between the two SARs and mainland China. Li expressed his interest in the construction progress of the bridge and also how strongly he cares about the practical outcome of the project, which is enabling easier connections between the regions.
