A local resident who arrived in Macau on February 6 from the United States, via Singapore, has tested positive for Covid-19 on arrival, the health authorities announced. The 55-year-old female resident was inoculated with three doses of the BioNTech vaccine in June and July 2021 in Macau, and January 2022, in the United States. Days before leaving the country, she underwent a nucleic acid test on January 31, February 1 and 2, in the United States and had three negative results. The woman showed no symptoms of Covid-19. She has been considered by Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Center as an asymptomatic imported case and as a result is not included in Macau’s confirmed case data.
Over 160 people checked during winter anti-crime operations
The Public Security Police Force (PSP) stated that they will maintain the winter anti-crime operations to ensure good law and order during the Chinese New Year. A total of 163 persons were intercepted during the operation. One man, suspected of exchanging illegal currency, was handed over to the relevant authorities for follow-up action. In addition, a total of 38 vehicles were stopped and seven prosecutions were made for failure to wear seat belts, use of mobile phones while driving, and failure to carry a driving license.
