Seven arrested for stealing from gem fair

Police arrested seven people during the first day of the Macau International Gem Fair. The detainees were reportedly caught stealing jewelry from a variety of counters, worth a total of over MOP3 million. All of the suspects, according to the police, were caught red-handed by the booth-keepers or firm owners during the first two hours of the fair after the opening ceremony, with four diamonds, four gold rings, multiple packets of pearls and pearl-studded necklaces swiped.

Local athletes have clinched a total of three gold medals so far at Los Angeles’ 2015 Special Olympics, which started last Saturday. The delegation’s very first medalist, Sou Chi Ngai, earned his first silver medal in the 100M Backstroke Division M1 on July 27 (local time) before he managed to get a gold medal in the 100M Freestyle Division M05 the following day. Another swimmer, Lam Chit Wai, also won a bronze medal in the 100M Freestyle Division M02 yesterday. The delegation’s bowling team and bocce team respectively claimed one gold medal each, while the former also brought the region a bronze medal in another M3 division.
