Survey | Students consider sports betting a leisure activity

Inside A Hong Kong Jockey Club Off-Course Betting Branch During The Chinese New Year RacesA survey conducted by Bosco Youth Service Network has revealed that more than half of the Macau youth population sees sports gambling as a source of regular entertainment, while 32 percent of the parents avoid talking to their children about gambling, Jornal Va Kio reported.
Regarding parents’ reactions to their children’s gambling habits, the survey also reveals that 12 percent of the interviewees believe that their families were unaware of their gambling habits, 37 percent acknowledged that their parents showed little interest, and that 32 percent of the respondents obtained their gambling money from their families. Nevertheless, only 1.9 percent of the parents surveyed had reprimanded their children for gambling. Still, 32 percent of the parents have no opinions, or prefer to avoid conversations concerning their children’s gambling behavior.
