Police are investigating the theft of a bronze plaque from a monument at Mark Twain’s gravesite in upstate New York, the Associated Press reported this week.
The plaque showing Twain’s image was one of two on a 12-foot-tall, 78-year-old granite monument commissioned by Twain’s daughter, Clara. The other plaque, of Clara’s husband, was untouched.
Twain was born Samuel Langhorne Clemens and grew up in Hannibal, Missouri. The man who penned “Tom Sawyer” famously said at some point in his life, “the report of my death was an exaggeration,” responding to rumors about his passing.
Unfortunately – Talkers has just confirmed with very hot sources – the news about the disappearance of Twain’s plaque is not exaggerated. Ah, and Mark Twain (eventually) died in 1910.

Chui’s new apps

iphoneThe Governor, sorry, the Chief Executive is an ‘appy man, or better put: an appi man. Since Dec 20 he got himself a brand new set of apps, so new that he can sleep like a baby panda. Five new apps – and just for the government: Chan 2.0, Leong 1.2, Wong 1.0, Tam 3.8 and Do Rosario Beta.2. What’s more, these apps are just like drones, with a life of their own. They work, they say they work, and, hopefully, they work as they say. Well, some glitches here and there. Can’t blame the developer. These apps need improving and fixes all the time: they’re only…human. But Chief Chui is on for a tranquil mandate. Talkers overheard he’s already ordered a yacht, which he’s even already baptized as… “Panda of the Pearl.”

The great contenders

lionel-alexisWe know it’s not time for that, but five years just go, you know, just like a match fire. We know it, they know it. And the whispering all over town is almost deafening: Lionel and Alexis are presumably the front-runners to become the next CE. They sure are… running. Looking at them both. It’s obvious they represent the two poles, negative+positive (no valoration here), that really ignites the action in Chui’s cabinet. Just saying…

The smoking joint

HQ_Smoking EStop press! A junket operator who asked to remain anonymous (and quite understandably, we may add) is planning to open a smoking-only Chinatown. Where? Hengqin. Why? Diversification by relocation. It’s not a hint anymore, remember? It’s an order! (From Heaven.)
