The first Deignan Award for Responsible Entrepreneurship has unveiled its winners, celebrating the outstanding efforts of SMEs in Hong Kong and Macau who are “encouraging positive business values.”
In April last year, the award for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) was launched, aiming to encourage the continuous pursuit of sustainability, corporate social responsibility (CSR), business ethics, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations and implementation by SMEs in both Hong Kong and Macau.
Over the weekend, the Deignan Award for Responsible Entrepreneurship awarded a total of six winners, of which three are from each SAR.
From Macau, MSS Recruitment Limited were crowned with the prestigious Gold Award, while the Silver and Bronze Awards were given to C&C Lawyers & Notaries and Macao Newland Technology Co., Ltd respectively.
“The winners were evaluated based on a range of criteria, such as upholding human dignity, displaying exceptional entrepreneurial spirit, fostering fairness, supporting the disadvantaged, and promoting environmental sustainability,” the organizers said.
During the event, Dr. Stephan Rothlin S.J., chairman of the Steering Committee of the Deignan Award and Director of Macau Ricci Institute said, “The Deignan Award is an inspiring platform to showcase the powerful impact of sound values, capable of lighting up a path and making a difference in even the most challenging and competitive marketplaces.”
The entry period of the award closed on August 31, 2022, with no application fee.
SMEs in both Hong Kong and Macau employing fewer than 100 people and meeting the entry criteria were eligible for the award. Staff Reporter
