Woman loses MOP2 million in crypto scam

A local woman has lost MOP2 million in an alleged cryptocurrency scam. The suspect convinced her to download an app to invest in cryptocurrency. During the relevant period, her account displayed a profit, but withdrawal attempts failed. The victim was asked to reach a designated “trading target” before cash could be withdrawn. On Nov. 4, the victim was asked to pay a handling fee, raising suspicions that she had fallen victim to a scam.
