Lawmaker Wong Kit Cheng has voiced her commitment to increasing female representation in the Legislative Assembly (AL), emphasizing the need for more women in politics to better protect the rights and interests of women and families.
In an interview yesterday on the sidelines of the AL Spring Lunch, Wong discussed her dedication to promoting family services and family rights, stressing that her team’s continued presence in the AL is vital to advancing these causes.
“We hope to see more women in the AL so that we can better protect women’s rights and interests. As a representative, I aim to invest more in promoting family services and family rights,” Wong said. “We need more lawmakers in the AL to advocate for women, children, and families.”
As vice-chairman of the Women’s General Association of Macau, Wong emphasized that an increased number of female lawmakers would provide a stronger focus on the issues affecting women, children, and families.
While championing women’s and children’s rights, Wong also underlined the need for sustainable development across the region, ensuring the well-being of all citizens.
“We are deeply concerned about people’s livelihoods. Women’s and children’s rights are our top priority, but the development of all of Macau involves thousands of families. We must address the sustainable development of the entire SAR,” she said. LV
