ISRAEL An Arab citizen of Israel using a paraglider flew into neighboring Syria, the Israeli military said yesterday, in what appeared to be an intentional attempt to join a rebel group there. Military officials said a 23-year-old from an Arab town in Israel planned the maneuver with the intent of joining Syrian rebel fighters. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the still-under-investigation case with the media.
