Youngsters nabbed for elaborate theft scheme

The Judiciary Police has caught nine local youngsters that are being accused of making off with the takings of jewelry stores after infiltrating the firms as staff members.
One of the shops was said to have lost MOP1 million. The suspects, aged between 19 and 28, would firstly find ways of becoming knowledgeable with the operations. Later on, they approached them using a pseudo identity, mostly as the firm’s boss or other staff, to take away money from the unsuspecting personnel. They would even employ non-local casino-goers to support their deception.
It was said that the group had been active since the end of last year and in total made five attempts to defraud shops.
