Thousands of Melco Resorts employees will partake in a multitude of volunteering events during work hours in the coming weeks, according to a statement issued yesterday by the casino operator. The volunteer work will seek to support Melco’s NGO community partners including, but not limited to, The Salvation Army (Macau) Education Center, Gaming Industry Employees Home Integrated Services Centre, Peng On Tung Tele-assistance Service Centre of Macau, The General Union of Neighborhood Macau – Cheng I Elderly Center, as well as SMEs and groups such as the elderly and single-parent families.
One event sees 220 Melco colleagues designing and creating personalized Mother’s Day cards for the elderly, later greeting them in smaller sized groups and gifting the cards, together with daily essentials such as rice, oil and hand sanitizer.
Another Melco volunteer initiative aims to help elderly persons who feel lonely in homes by arranging regular video calls to let the beneficiaries know they are not forgotten.
With no new coronavirus cases in the last 29 consecutive days, Lawrence Ho, Chairman & CEO of Melco, said that “the timing is now favorable for us to deploy our volunteers back into the community.”
“Our top priority is, as always, the safety and wellbeing of our colleagues, community partners and beneficiaries,” added Ho. “We sincerely thank our colleagues for their eager participation.”
