In collaboration with renowned contemporary artist Cai Guo-Qiang, MGM has announced the global debut of the “cAI: Soul Scan” exhibition, which will run from Nov. 24 to June next year.
In a statement from MGM, the exhibition drew inspiration from the history of A-Ma beliefs and customs in Macau, Cai’s hometown Quanzhou, Fujian, and the southward transmission of A-Ma culture.
The exhibition will be held at Navy Yard No. 1 near A-Ma Temple, offering an open and inclusive creative space that encourages public engagement in an effort to revamp the Barra District.
Cai is renowned for his gunpowder paintings and explosive art, according to the same statement.
Having served as the director of Visual Effects and Fireworks for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Summer Olympics in 2008 and the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022, Cai made history as the first artist to hold a solo exhibition at the Palace Museum.
