CTM has arranged for a technical team to conduct emergency maintenance work and rapid network diversification following the service interruption at the Central District of Macau Peninsula at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
The CTM Network Management Center said that the incident was caused by the disconnection of an underground major communications cable chamber due to drilling work conducted at a building redevelopment construction site at Travessa do Roquete in Central District.
A related communications cable chamber carried several large-capacity optical fibers and copper wires, resulting in different levels of service interruption.
Following onsite inspection, the technical team discovered that the cables were seriously damaged. Since the damaged cables were located at a construction site, under the premise of ensuring the safety of personnel, CTM arranged emergency repairs overnight in order to restore the affected services yesterday.
