The Welfare Shop of the Macau Holy House of Mercy (SCMM) was again sponsored by Sands China Ltd., for the third consecutive year, with a MOP 300,000 donation to finance the handout of food bags to disadvantaged households.
The project, launched by the Fraternity in early 2013, has succeeded in helping out thousands of needy families with food and essentials to counter inflation and higher cost of living. Sands China Ltd. has contributed annually, with a total of MOP 800,000 given in three years.
The food bag distribution took place on February 7, as Mr. Ben Toh Hup Hock, Executive Vice President, CFO and Executive Director of Sands China Ltd. made the symbolic check presentation to the President of SCMM, Mr. António José de Freitas and other members of the Fraternity Board of Directors.
Ms. Winnie Wong, Vice President and Assistant General Manager of Sands Cotai Central was also present, as well as representatives of the Macau General Union of Neighborhood Associations and of the Macau Federation of Labor Unions.
Topping this distribution of food bags to over 340 needy families, 30 volunteers from Sands China Care Ambassadors also handed out a gift of shopping trolleys to the beneficiaries to mark the Chinese Lunar “Year of the Goat”.
