CEM and Pak Tai’s Birthday Organizing Committee jointly held a lunch gathering at Largo de Camões in Taipa (in front of the Pak Tai Temple) at 12:00 noon Friday. 300 senior citizens from Taipa and Coloane gathered together with CEM Ambassadors Team members to enjoy the luncheon.
Shi Yulin, CEM Executive Director, said in his speech that as respecting the elderly is a virtue in Chinese tradition, CEM has been actively extending care to the community and giving back to society, especially with respect to the elderly. CEM Ambassadors Team members regularly visit the elderly and provide free safety checks and repairing services of electrical installations for underprivileged families, people with special needs and elder citizens living alone.
Since 2005, CEM has been celebrating Pak Tai’s Birthday with senior citizens from Taipa and Coloane with the support of the Pak Tai’s Birthday Organizing Committee and CEM Ambassadors Team. To take care of their health, doctors and nurses from the CEM Occupational Health Services Centre volunteered to measure the blood pressure of the participating elderly before the lunch. CEM also gave away food gift packs and Lai-sees to the senior citizens.
