Corporate Bits | MGM sponsors documentary “The meaning of life” filming in the city

02MGM Macau has recently sponsored the documentary filming of “The Meaning of Life” by acclaimed Portuguese director Miguel Gonçalves Mendes, who is best known for his documentary “José e Pilar” talking about the relationship of Nobel Prize winner of literature José Saramago with his wife Pilar del Río, which was also a Portuguese submission for a nomination for the 2011 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
“The Meaning of Life” tells the real story of a young Brazilian man Giovane, who decides to take a trip around the world searching for the meaning of life after discovering he has a rare disease. The purpose of this documentary is to portray Giovane’s 8-month global journey experiencing different climates, landscapes, religions, foods, costumes, and cultures. The documentary also reveals the shared history between Macau and Portugal to portray Portuguese Heritage in the East and set several scenes in MGM Macau such as the Grande Praça, the Main Hotel Lobby, the VIP Hotel Lobby and some of its restaurants.

Sands China welcomes Chinese national ping-pong team

World table tennis champions Ma Long and Ding Ning are among the athletes participating in a series of sports and community events organized by the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macau and the Macau Sport Development Board, and supported by Sands China Ltd. As part of the visit, Sands China hosted a welcome dinner for the team Saturday at Conrad Macao, Cotai Central.

Grand Hyatt Macau employees visit asilo santa maria nursing home

Grand-Hyatt-Macau-management-teamGrand Hyatt Macau employees visited the local Asilo Santa Maria Nursing Home last Thursday to spend an afternoon with the elderly residents. The annual Mother’s Day visit to the all-female Asilo Santa Maria Nursing Home is part of Grand Hyatt Macau’s corporate social responsibility program.
Led by General Manager Mr Paul Kwok, a team of Grand Hyatt Macau colleagues and internship trainees served a Mother’s Day lunch to the nursing home residents. Grand Hyatt Macau’s F&B team specially prepared the menu.
While the elderly residents enjoyed the lunch, Grand Hyatt Macau internship trainees played the guitar, sang Mandarin and Cantonese songs and chatted with them. Healthy food pack gifts were also presented to each of the ladies.
