‘Autumn Salon 2015’ open call for artworks

call for-02-cs5The sixth edition of the “Autumn Salon” will be held in November at Casa Garden. The two organizers, the Orient Foundation and the Art for All Society (AFA), issued an open call for artists who live and work in Macau to present their contemporary art proposals. Appropriate media include paintings, printmaking, sculptures, photography, installations and video art.
Last year’s “Autumn Salon” included 56 works from 31 local artists. According to the organizers, the “Autumn Salon” not only created a plat- form for the local artists in allowing them to learn from each other, but also provided a good opportunity for collectors so that they could easily bring their favorite artworks home.
All submissions will be reviewed and selected by a jury composed of representatives from the Orient Foundation and AFA with the addition of invited local veteran artists. The finalists will be notified in mid-September. All application materials should be submitted before August 28th by post or email to AFA.
Furthermore, in order to encourage local young artists from the ages of 18 to 35 to pursue artistic endeavors, this year the Orient Foundation will continue to launch its Art Award.  The winner will have the opportunity to visit Portugal in 2016 for a month as part of an artist residency – the total prize of MOP50,000 includes the airfare and accommodation. The 2014 winner Lai Sut Weng is now in Lisbon, Portugal for her one-month artist-in-residence program.
“Autumn Salon 2015” is partly sponsored by the Cultural Affairs Bureau. The opening of the exhibition will be held on Saturday, November 7
at Casa Garden, the local headquarters of the Orient Foundation. The exhibition will be open until November 30.
