The “Healthy Eating” Induction Cooking Contest organized by CEM, co-organized by the Catering Services & Cooking Training Centre of Macau Federation of Trade Unions and supported by the Macau Professional Nutritionist Association is now open for registration. Macau residents aged above 18 who are not professional chefs are welcome to participate in the contest.
By encouraging participants to design healthy and nutritious recipes, the contest aims to promote healthy eating. In addition, participants will be cooking dishes on site to experience the advantages of induction cooking, which boasts a heat conduction efficiency of 90%, much higher than the 40% of flame cooking, and one third shorter cooking time. Induction cooking can transmit the heat to the utensil directly and contribute to an energy reduction of 30% to 45%.
GEG Macau Cup – youth national education competition trip
The “GEG Macau Cup – 7th Youth National Education Competition” organized by the National Conditions Education (Macau) Association and titled sponsored by the Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) was successfully completed. After the competition, winners joined the six-day trip to Shenyang and Fushun in Liaoning province and visited the 9.18 Historical Museum, Ping Ding Shan Massacre Memorial Hall, Marshal Zhang’s Mansion, Shenyang Palace Museum and more. The trip fostered the students’ understanding of traditional Chinese culture and also to enhance their knowledge of the Sino-Japanese war.
MGM Macau hosts ‘a day with MGM’ for local teenagers
MGM is hosting the fifth “A Day with MGM” this month. One session took place on Wednesday and another is to be held on Aug. 20, to provide an opportunity for local teenagers to experience and learn about the real working environment at a luxury hotel.
The first “A Day with MGM” was introduced in 2011, and became a success, drawing many participants and great support from all sectors. This year, 27 participants aged 13 to 17, including children and siblings of MGM team members, winners from the “Macau Outstanding Teenagers 2014” and students who have shown significant improvement or outstanding performance nominated by local schools. All the participants had an opportunity to experience the five-star hospitality culture by gaining hands-on experience at 14 different hotel departments including, Front Desk Reception, Fitness and Pool Facilities, Food and Beverage Operations, In-Room Dining, Banquet, Wardrobe & Linen, Human Resources and more. In addition to gaining real life working experience, the program also helps broaden the horizons of the participants, to spark interest in a potential future career goal.
