It has become a tradition for Melco Crown Entertainment (MCE) employees to donate the mooncakes given to them by the company to the Macau community before the Mid-Autumn Festival. In its third year, the activity has gained increasing support and this year the collection has reached a record-high number of over 2,500 boxes of mooncakes in their exquisite packaging, which are normally sold by the company to its customers. These mooncakes were distributed by over 200 MCE volunteers to 21 organizations that house elderly and less fortunate members in the community.
Adding a warm and caring touch this year, besides delivering mooncakes door-to-door to over 200 social housing units for the elderly in Cheng Chong Building at Ilha Verde, over 40 MCE volunteers rolled up their sleeves to clean up the seniors’ homes. Doing so would provide them with a healthier environment and improved living conditions.
Director of Cheng I Elderly Service Center from the General Union of Neighbors’ Association of Macau Leong Kuai Peng said, “most of the elderly residents moved to Cheng Chong Building four years ago. Nevertheless, some of them are aging fast and even have mobility problems now. We really would like to express our sincere gratitude to MCE volunteers who went the extra mile to deliver mooncakes to them door-to-door.”
‘the voice of china’ returns to the venetian macao
China’s hit reality TV show, “The Voice of China,” returned to The Venetian Macao on September 21 to film a Mid-Autumn Concert. The session, which is scheduled to be broadcast by Zhe Jiang Satellite TV and Tencent on September 27, saw many of the contestants participate in the Mid-Autumn concert. Each of the four mentors – Jay Chou, Ying Na, Harlem Yu and Feng Wang – brought their protégées to The Venetian Theatre to perform well-known songs from Season Four of The Voice of China. With their mentors on stage with them, the young singing superstars took turns to sing songs that expressed their love for their families at this special time of year.
According to a press release issued by The Venetian, Season Four of The Voice of China has, like previous seasons, been dominating the ratings in China every Friday night, consistently gaining more than 5 percent of viewers.
