The Sands China Care Ambassadors participated in the Caritas Macau Charity Bazaar over the weekend, marking the fourth straight year Sands China Ltd. has raised funds for Caritas in the annual event. In addition, the company made a MOP 200,000 donation to the non-profit charitable organization to support its operational expenses.
Sands China Ltd. President and Chief Executive Officer Edward Tracy presented the check to Caritas Macau Secretary-General Paul Pun Chi Meng at the bazaar’s opening ceremony Saturday. Sands China has contributed over MOP 2.8 million to Caritas Macau through charity dinners and bazaars since 2004, supporting Caritas Macau’s efforts to develop and implement social services in the community.
Top three schools in cem solar model car race join hk tree 2014
Further to the organization of the 2nd edition of the CEM Solar Model Car Race and 1st edition of the CEM Capacitance Model Car Race at Coloane Power Station on 26 October, where nearly 400 students and teachers formed 84 teams representing 26 local secondary schools, CEM sponsored the top three Solar Model Car Race winning schools to represent Macau competing in the Hong Kong Technology & Renewable Energy Events (HK TREE 2014) in Hong Kong on 1 November.
The top three wining schools were Colégio de Santa Rosa de Lima – Chinese Section (Champion), Colégio do Sagrado Coração de Jesus (1st Runner-up) and Escola Secundária Pui Va (2nd Runner-up). This year was the 9th edition of HK TREE, which aims to raise the scientific and technological knowledge of school students, promoting their awareness of using renewable energy and realizing the important effect of renewable energy for environmental protection. This year, 298 secondary school teams and 145 primary school teams, with more than 1,200 students and teachers participated in HK TREE 2014.
The Golden Peacock receives Michelin star for second straight year
The Michelin Guide to Restaurants and Hotels has awarded a star to the Golden Peacock at The Venetian Macao for the second year in a row. The Venetian Macao’s authentic Indian restaurant is listed in the guide’s Hong Kong & Macau 2015 edition as a one-star establishment, signifying “a very good restaurant in its category,” and “a place offering cuisine prepared to a consistently high standard.”
