Arts | Local group marks World Day for Audiovisual Heritage

The Macau Films & Television Productions and Culture Association (MFTPA) and the International Council for Films, Television and Audiovisual Communication (ICFT) are promoting a series of joint initiatives to celebrate World Day for Audiovisual Heritage and the 70th anniversary of UNESCO.
The event takes place today, with the opening ceremony kicking off at 10.30 a.m. at the Macau Art Museum, where a promotional video will also be showcased. A series of classic film screenings will take place at the Cinematheque Passion (from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.), including Charlie Chaplin’s “The Great Dictator”, Carl Laemmle’s “The Phantom of the Opera”, and “The Loner” directed by Beijing filmmaker Guan Jing. Speakers and guests of honor on the day include representatives from UNESCO.
At 3 p.m., ICFT’s director-general, Georges Dupont, and Film Restoration Expert Elena Tammaccaro will share their experiences and insights at the Grand Hall at the Institute for Tourism Studies.
