Authorities issue over 14,000 fines in 2025 over public space violations

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) issued more than 14,000 fines last year for violations related to public space management, including illegal waste disposal, obstruction of pedestrian areas, and improper discharge of wastewater, according to government data.

Officials said regular inspections were conducted to identify suspected environmental and public order violations under the city’s public space regulations.

The government also emphasized efforts to improve building management and condominium governance.

In a reply to an inquiry from lawmaker Ho Ion Sang, the Housing Bureau said it has been providing financial support, training programmes, and online services to help residents access condominium owner records and strengthen community property management.

In addition, the Fire Services Bureau carried out more than 11,700 fire safety inspections in 2025, including nearly 6,000 inspections in residential buildings.

The Public Security Police Force also conducted seasonal safety awareness campaigns earlier this year, focusing on preventing the throwing of objects from high-rise buildings and promoting public safety awareness across communities.
