Bathing season: swimming pools to reopen on May 1

The four outdoor public swimming pools operating under the Sport Bureau’s (ID) management are to open on May 1 (Thursday), as officially the bathing season kicks off in Macau.

The Dr. Sun Yat Sen Swimming Pool, Taipa Central Park Swimming Pool, Hac Sa Park Swimming Pool, and Cheoc Van Swimming Pool will start operating following the same method as previous years, with the daily schedule divided into three sessions.

In a statement, the ID said that to facilitate users’ use of the swimming pools, they can acquire entry tickets in various ways and channels. Users can buy a swimming ticket two days in advance or buy an on-the-spot ticket on the day of use through three online platforms, including Macao One Account, the ID website, and the ID mobile application. On-the-spot tickets are also available at each swimming pool ticketing counter.

The ID website and mobile app share each session’s remaining vacant slots to assist users in arranging swimming sessions.

As in previous years, if regular cleaning works fall on a public holiday, the pool will remain open, and the cleaning will be postponed to the following day.

The bathing season opening also extends to the local beaches (Cheoc Van and Hac Sa), which will last from May 1 up to October 31.

Regarding the local beaches, the Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) has also noted that it has done all preparatory work for the season-opening, marking out the bathing areas with buoys.

During the bathing season, DSAMA will send lifeguards and nursing staff to the beaches of Hac Sa and Cheoc Van to provide emergency medical services and ensure the safety of citizens and bathers.

The DSAMA also warns beachgoers to respect the environment and note that making fires, setting up camping tents, riding bicycles, or driving motor vehicles on the beaches is forbidden.
