Briefs | Brazilian detained in alleged human trafficking case

PJ has detained a Brazilian woman who allegedly trafficked one of her female compatriots to Macau and coerced her into providing sex services to bar patrons.  The victim, in her 20s, was allegedly told in Rio de Janeiro that she could earn as much as HKD400,000 each month if she worked as a waitress in a Macau bar. However, after she arrived in Macau, she was asked to wear revealing clothes and participate in an interview in a bar. The victim felt that the arrangement was not what she had agreed to and asked to return to Brazil. But she was intimidated and was told that her family in Brazil would be killed. The victim contacted the PJ and was rescued.

Man accused of raping ex-girlfriend and filming the process

A 35-year-old local taxi driver was alleged to have raped his ex-girlfriend at his apartment and filmed the process. The man allegedly has a gambling addiction and had asked his ex-girlfriend to lend him money. The woman broke up with him. Since the man knew that the victim often went to the building where the suspect lived, to find her friend who also lived there, he ambushed the victim on the staircase and abducted her to his apartment before raping her. He was also said to have recorded the crime with his mobile phone. But the victim resisted and snatched the phone from the suspect. She took the phone with her to the PJ and the authorities eventually detained the man.
