The inauguration ceremony for the Bureau of Telecommunications Regulation’s new director Hoi Chi Leong took place yesterday. He said that the bureau will study the licensing scheme for triple play, as well as the legislation required. As for whether the government-owned Macau Basic Television Channels Limited will continue to operate, Hoi said that it depends on the situation in future. The new director also suggested that his priority is to strive to release the bidding results for the 4G licenses in the first quarter of the year. He also aims to launch the service within the year. Following the increase in competition, Hoi predicted that telecommunication prices will decrease, while the quality of service will improve.
