Mainland police have cracked down on a mainland online fraud group which committed crimes in the name of one of Macau’s casinos, according to reports by mainland media. The case was uncovered by authorities in Guizhou province. The Guizhou police authority arrested seven of the group’s masterminds. The group had been operating for approximately a fortnight. In total, more than 200 people fell victim to the crimes, reporting a total loss of 55 million yuan. The group used social media to seek potential victims. The criminals purported to be internet investment instructors. They recommended the victims use a mobile application called “Wynn Macau” and told them they could turnover high profits by investing money in the app.

Pedestrian hit by taxi on zebra crossing

A pedestrian was injured on Tuesday after being hit by a taxi near the McDonalds on Avenida 24 de Junho. The incident was recorded at approximately 8 p.m., according to a Fire Services Bureau report. The injured person is a 31-year-old local Macau man. He was using the zebra crossing near the McDonalds when he was hit. The accident caused him to sustain light injuries to his waist and he was later sent to Kiang Wu Hospital for treatment. This incident marks the injury of yet another person in a traffic accident, following the case of two mainland tourists who were hit by a bus while crossing a road near San Ma Lou, which was reported on Monday. On Sunday, a car crash on the Amizade Bridge killed a foreign worker. Last Friday, two tourist buses crashed and went up in flames.

Bus injures motorcyclist aged 66

A biker has suffered mild injuries following an incident in which a tour bus ran over his bike. The 66-year-old male biker refused to be sent to the hospital, the Fire Services Bureau told the Times. A picture of the incident widely shared on social media showed a pink bus stopped right in front of a pedestrian crossing with a motorbike under the front of its body. The picture was posted at 12:26 p.m., about 10 minutes after emergency services received the report. The emergency services confirmed that the accident took place at the intersection of Avenida do General Castelo Branco and Rua de Lei Pou Ch’ôn. Information from the police indicated both the driver and the biker passed on-site alcohol tests. The biker grazed his leg in the accident. Paramedics treated his wound before the biker told them he did not want to be taken to the hospital. Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
