Christian McBride makes his debut in Macau
American jazz bassist Christian McBride, alongside his Big Band, made his local debut yesterday. Filling the Macau Cultural Center’s grand auditorium with refreshing jazz melodies, his appreciative audience was particularly thrilled by McBride’s set list, which included jazz standards and his own compositions, said CCM in a statement. McBride is considered “a powerful force” in the contemporary jazz world, having won a Grammy in 2011 with “The Good Feeling,” an album featuring different arrangements of jazz tunes alongside original works. Born in Philadelphia, the musician was influenced by his father and uncle, both well-known bassists in the region. His love for jazz blossomed while he was studying classical music. Over the last 20 years, McBride has played and collaborated in more than 300 recordings, and has performed in numerous musical settings.
